Help
How to install Klavuni, which permissions it needs, and what to do when something does not work.
Installation
Open the DMG, drag Klavuni to Applications and start it from there: started from the disk image itself, it keeps none of its permissions. The DMG is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
Or with Homebrew — it installs the same DMG as the button on this site: brew install --cask awesome-nick/tap/klavuni
Permissions
Accessibility, to read and replace the selection. Input Monitoring only for suggestions and automatic correction while you type. For the clipboard history, macOS asks whether Klavuni may paste from other apps.
Common problems
Klavuni does not correct in an app
Open the Klavuni menu: correction may be on “Pause for 15 min” or “Pause until I turn it back on”, or “Correct in “…”” may be unticked for that app. A pause stops only correction while you type; ⌃⌥K still works.
When another app turns on password mode, Klavuni pauses too, and the menu says so: “Paused — another application entered password mode”.
If Klavuni leaves one particular word alone, look under “Exceptions” in the Klavuni menu: it lists the words you asked it not to correct, and the ✕ beside a word removes the exception.
In terminals Klavuni only suggests and never corrects by itself: text typed there can run as a command.
The menu bar icon is gone
Klavuni lives in the menu bar. If its icon is not there while Klavuni is running, macOS may have hidden it: open System Settings › Menu Bar and check that Klavuni is turned on there.
An icon that was once removed from the menu bar by hand may stay hidden even with Klavuni turned on there — Klavuni itself cannot change that. It keeps working all the same.
Granting permissions again
When a permission is missing, the Klavuni menu says so on a line of its own, and clicking it opens the right place in System Settings or asks for the permission.
If the menu says “Correction is not working”, turn Klavuni on in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility.
Permissions are tied to where Klavuni is: move it after granting them, and they have to be granted again. So drag Klavuni to Applications first.
If Klavuni says “Restart Klavuni — the event permission is not active”, quit Klavuni and start it again.
Updates
Klavuni checks for updates once a day and offers the new version; nothing is installed without your consent.
To check right away, choose “Check for Updates…” in the Klavuni menu.
