In short: your text, your clipboard and your keystrokes stay on your Mac, except when you ask Klavuni to search the web for a clip. Here is exactly what goes over the network, and where.
The app
- Klavuni makes one kind of request: once a day it reads klavuni.com/appcast.xml to see whether a new version exists. The request carries no system profile. Like any network request, it carries your IP address and the usual headers — among them the app’s name and version and your Mac’s preferred languages.
- Klavuni downloads a new version from klavuni.com only after you agree.
- The list of revoked licences arrives with the update check. Your licence itself is checked on your Mac, without contacting anything.
- The clipboard history lives only on your Mac, encrypted: a SQLCipher database whose key is in your Keychain.
- Klavuni has no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising identifiers.
Klavuni opens your browser only when you ask it to: searching the web for a clip opens the search engine chosen in Settings with the clip’s text, and a clip that is a single http(s) address opens that address; the Buy button and the links to the site open klavuni.com.
The site
- Until you press “Buy Pro” or open a Paddle payment link (an address with ?_ptxn=), the site loads nothing from other servers and sets no cookies. There are no analytics.
- If you pick a theme for the page, the choice is kept in your browser (localStorage, the key klavuni-theme) and sent nowhere.
- Like most web servers, the klavuni.com server keeps a request log: IP address, time, the address requested, the page you came from, the browser’s name. Update checks are logged the same way. From the log the author counts totals only — how many page views and downloads, which sites visitors came from, how many update checks a day. The author does not track individual visitors with it or share it.
Payment
“Buy Pro” and a Paddle payment link load Paddle.js from cdn.paddle.com and open Paddle’s checkout. From then on Paddle may set cookies, and it collects what the payment needs: your email address, country and payment details. Paddle processes them as the Merchant of Record, under its privacy policy. The author never sees your card details.
What the author keeps
Paddle passes your email address (and your name, if you gave one) to the author. They are used only to issue your licence and to issue it again if the email gets lost. The author keeps them with the licence on his own computer, and they also stay in his Gmail mailbox, in Paddle’s notifications and the emails he sent. They are never used for newsletters or advertising.
The author sends the licence from his own mailbox, yevhen.orestov@gmail.com, so the email passes through Google’s mail service.
Your rights
Write to the author to find out what is kept about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Once it is deleted, a lost licence can no longer be issued again.
